WebGenie Shopping Cart Professional uses PHP to create and operate the online stores. PHP is a widely-used general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for Web development and can be embedded into HTML. Like CGI scripts - which formed the engine of our earlier versions of shopping cart software - PHP is server side and can perform most of the tasks a CGI can do. At the same time, PHP is much easier to learn and understand by anyone not familiar with programming languages.

Shopping cart system can be resided on your server or hosted on ours
The entire online ordering system can be installed on your server (some minimum server requirements that are mostly standard on all Linux servers apply) or on our secure servers. You can use our secure server layer certificate - free of charge - when the shopping cart is hosted on our server or we will custom install your SSL.
Standalone or Joomla version
Joomla ecommerce has been made easier by the WebGenie shopping cart plugin for Joomla. In addition to be able to instal as standalone on your webserver, this shopping cart can be integrated into your Joomla web site as a Joomla component.
Search engine friendly catalogs and products pages
The shopping cart admin interface lets you generate hard-coded HTML files out of the database-driven catalogs. This is generally done to make them search engine friendly.
Template-driven catalogs and cart pages
The look and feel of the online store are entirely templates-driven. There are over 200 variations to choose from and you can further customize them. Therefore, there are virtually infinite combinations possible for the catalogs, product pages and checkout. While no HTML or graphic experience is required, with some HTML editing knowledge, you can directly edit the templates or add new ones to extend it even further.
Web-based configuration of shopping cart settings
When configured via the easy-to-use administration interfaces (see examples) the shopping cart settings will be stored in the database and as pre-compiled HTML pages on the server. This makes the retrieval and display of catalogs and products extremely fast.
Unlike the hard coded online catalogs, the database-driven catalogs and products are easier to maintain and update. All that you have to do is change the details via the admin interfaces or by bulk uploading product details as a CSV file.
Marketing support for your products and catalogs
Facility to setup automatic data feeds to Google, Altura and Shopzilla are already built-in. These high traffic sites help to give your products more exposure to potential customers.
Payment gateways for instant online processing
Setting up a payment gateway to process the credit card online is often a hassle in many shopping cart systems. WebGenie shopping cart professional solves this issue by integrating over 40 payment gateways. All that you have to do is insert your account details. No complex configuration or template editing is required (see example integration of payment gateways).
Sale prices to encourage more sales
Showing a sale price - alongwith the saving - is effective to increase the chances of a sale. The product setup section of the shopping cart administration lets you specify a sales price (see example) and can optionally mark the item as 'Hot Deal'. Can also give out promotional codes, automatic volume discount, etc.
Companion products, reviews, discounts and other methods to increase sales
It is a proven sales method to include product recommendation and other users' comments on the online catalogs and product descriptions. Our shopping cart software allows you to enable these by inserting the product IDs and discount codes. The user reviews are moderated and will not appear until you have reviewed and approved them.
One-page checkout for the payment desk
A lengthy checkout process is one of the reasons for the abandonment of carts. Our shopping cart software system lets you specify a one-page checkout. Of couse, the traditional checkout process is available as default. The user is given an opportunity to register as a buyer and automatically pre-fill the details, or go through an express checkout process without registering.

A very useful feature in the cart is recurring billing. The shopping cart system will automatically bill the customer at set intervals until cancelled in writing. This feature is particularly useful in periodic debit situations such as subscriptions.
Reminders for repeat order
Another useful feature is the periodic reminder scheduler. It sends the customer an email to remind when an item (e.g. medicines) is to be ordered.
